15.08.06
Drugs with a potential street value of about £250,000 have been seized at East Midlands Airport, according to a report on the BBC News website. The shipment of about 5.5kg (12lb) of opium had been sent through the airport's airfreight service and was en route to an address in Aberdeen.
HM Revenue and Customs officers said it would have been processed into heroin, which would have seen its value increase from £50,000 to £250,000. Two men in their 30s have been arrested in Aberdeen, the website reports.
